I love hearing about any shift you make in creating a life that you really love. This subject seems to make an impact this time of year as we wrap up and then prepare for 2002. It's great to have life in good working order! Speaking of which ... wow ... the end of 2001 is coming quick! What I want for you is a phenomenal finish in 2001 and an awesome beginning to 2002! Are you making plans for that? With Love, Beth ~~~~~~~~~~~ YOU Are A Masterpiece! Masterpiece: 1: the most outstanding piece of work of a creative artist or craftsman. 2: an outstanding achievement. You are a masterpiece! Yes, you! You are here for a reason and it is your outrageous duty and adventure to figure out what that reason is -- then live it! Most of us are familiar with Leonardo da Vinci's painting of Mona Lisa, the classic masterpiece which resides in The Louvre Museum in Paris. If you haven't seen it in person, you most likely recall from school books how it looks. (And if you want to take another peek, you can view the painting online at http://www.louvre.fr/anglais/collec/peint/inv0779/peint_f.htm.) Mona Lisa is a MASTERPIECE, just like you are! The Mona Lisa painting was created with love. And so were you. The painting was carefully created in layers of paint and using specialized techniques to give it a realistic look. It was a painstakingly slow process. Just like the Mona Lisa, The Masterpiece is within you ... an evolution coming to fruition and bringing your light to life. The Bible says the we are "fearfully and wonderfully made" (Psalm 139:14). You can believe that! Each one of us is a unique gift! Da Vinci's Mona Lisa took time to create. It was a process ... sometimes painstakingly slow, but it brought forth one of the most exquisite art pieces in history. You have also been created gradually in layers -- your past experiences have shaped who you are today. Your history is an important piece of who you are today and who you can become tomorrow. The lessons you have learned and the people you have known -- these have been the layers of paint in your life. They were there for a reason. Accept that, gratefully acknowledge that, and then move forward. The Mona Lisa is designed to shine ... and so are you! The painting hangs in a secure area of the museum where no camera flash bulbs are permitted. Ropes and glass keep viewers from touching the painting. This is to preserve the quality of the workmanship. Art experts worldwide recognize what it takes to keep Mona Lisa healthy and for her brilliance to shine. She is safe. The same is true of you. What does it take for you to be healthy and shine like the gem that you are? Where is your best light? Sometimes we are tempted to think thoughts like, "I don't deserve this." "Who am I to have this?" "Look what happened to me ..." "I could never have that ...," etc. Ahhh, not true! Every single day you can make the choice of which voice in your head/heart to listen to -- the one which propels you forward or the voice which plays like a bad tape that you need to stomp on, break into a million pieces, and throw in the garbage. :-) (Can you tell I feel strongly about this???) Personally, I hope you choose the recording that propels you on to greatness! The Mona Lisa is not perfect, but she is sacred. And so are you. You are unique and special in your own way. All the pieces of your life fit together in a meaningful way. And you are here for a very divine purpose. At the most basic level, you are here to be a masterpiece! I love this popular quote attributed to Nelson Mandela or to Marianne Williamson (depending on the source): "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous. Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won't feel insecure around you..." Be the Masterpiece that you are and light up the world like Mona Lisa! This is why you are here! ~~~~~~~~~~ Soul Restoration Tip Dream Big If there were ever a time to dare, to make a difference to embark on something worth doing, it is now. Not for any grand cause, necessarily -- but for something that tugs at your heart, something that's your aspiration, something that's your dream. You owe it to yourself to make your days here count. Have fun. Dig deep. Stretch. Dream big. Know that things worth doing seldom come easy. There will be good days. There will be bad days. There will be times when you want to turn around, pack it up, and call it quits. Those times tell you that you are pushing yourself, that you are not afraid to learn by trying. Persist. Because with an idea, determination, and the right tools, you can do great things. Let your instincts, your intellect, and your heart guide you. Trust. Believe in the incredible power of humankind. Of doing something that makes a difference. Of working hard. Of laughing and hoping. Of lazy afternoons. Of lasting friends. Of all the things that will cross your path this year. The start of something new brings the hope of something great. Anything is possible. There is only one you. And you will pass this way only once. Do it right.
