~~~~~~~~~~ Hello! The Priority Shuffle Soul Restoration Tip Contact Info ~~~~~~~~~~ Hi ... welcome! Gosh, when you have an e-zine that has a name such as this one -- The BrightSide -- it almost seems like an oxymoron to find the good in any of the tragic recent events that have befallen on America. And yet, each day, I hear stories about triumph, good will and the volunteer spirit. In the season of Thanksgiving, this makes me grateful to be reminded that most humans are kind at heart. Born out of deep gratitude, comes remarkable generosity. And so, I want to share a message from United Way, an organization that I love. United Way has seen unprecedented giving since the attack on September 11. The outpouring of money has been tremendous! As a result of the emergency need for 9/11 funds, however, other charities have struggled. These include day care centers, programs for the homeless, sick and elderly, domestic violence centers and other important causes. As a solution, United Way has created the One Day's Pay Campaign. Here is the description: Created in cooperation with leading United Way organizations, the One Days Pay campaign is asking Americans everywhere (those who don't already contribute to the United Way) to work for America for just one day by donating the equivalent of one day's pay (or a portion thereof) to support local charities in need. All donations are fully tax deductible and 100 percent of the funds raised through the One Day's Pay effort will go back to United Way charities located in your community. To learn more or to participate, please visit www.onedayspay.org/main.asp. In spite of adversity, most of us have a lot to be grateful for! What better way to honor those blessings than by reciprocating? If you are inspired, please consider this as your way of saying "thanks" for the blessings in your life! Happy Bountiful Thanksgiving! With Love, Beth
~~~~~~~~~~ The Priority Shuffle "Everything is in the mind. That's where it all starts. Knowing what you want is the first step toward getting it." ~ Mae West
What are the top 5 priorities in your life today? Do you know? It shouldn't be a difficult question, but for many people it is. Certainly, our priorities shift when we are forced to look at ourselves in a new light. I've observed that many of my clients have re-oriented their lives around different priorities since the events of September 11, 2001. Suddenly, they are keenly aware of the importance of family, health and other significant cornerstones. Our conversations have been rich and full of wisdom. (My clients teach me a lot! I LOVE being a coach!) :-) I'll ask again, what are your priorities and is your life a reflection of those things and of those people? What takes precedence in your life? When honoring priorities, I suggest this formula: 1. What are you most thankful for? What contributes most to the quality of your life? That which you cherish the most in your life is something you want to protect and nurture. These are the things/people that we never want to take for granted. List 5 things/people you are most grateful for now. 2. What are your gifts and talents? These are the personal traits in your life that you can generously reflect out to the world. When thinking about these, please don't be modest. List at least 10 qualities that you can easily share with the world ... because that's exactly why you have them in the first place! It is your mission to SHINE! Please don't hide! Be your extraordinary self! 3. What's missing? OK, it's pretty simple ... given the combination of the two factors above -- what you are grateful for and your personal gifts -- what don't you have that you most want? List 5 things that you want to commit to focus on attaining. Develop a strategic plan to begin getting these things in your life -- start small and work up to the ultimate goal. Beginning is paramount to success! So then, it goes like this ...
What you are grateful for + Your gifts to share + What you want now = YOUR PRIORITIES!
It's not enough to allow life to just happen -- we must happen to life! Take the first step in living a truly authentic life -- define and then commit to your priorities. Remember the words of Aristotle, who said, "Honors and rewards fall to those who show their good qualities in action."
~~~~~~~~~~~ Soul Restoration Tip "To always be intending to live a new life, but never find the time to set about it; this is as if man should put off eating and drinking and sleeping from one day and night to another, till he is starved and destroyed." ~ Tillotson Carpe Diem! (Seize the day!) List 100 (yes, 100!) things that you want to DO, BE or HAVE in your lifetime! Keep a notebook list and add to it over the next couple of weeks. You'll be amazed at what comes up if you remain diligent to this process. Then, take the action you need to create that life!
If you find these ideas overwhelming, you are not alone. Keep working at it and repeat this exercise frequently. Get the support you need too -- if you want a coach, I hope you will consider working with me! :-) At the very least, get a buddy to share these things with and hold one another accountable. You CAN live a life that reflects your true priorities!
