Hello!  As I write this, life as we know it, has ceased to exist here in
Atlanta, Georgia.  Yes, folks, we have an entire HALF INCH of snow today!  ;)
Life has come to a crawl and we are enjoying the warmth of a fire and hot
cocoa.  Ahhh, simple pleasures.

Happy Holidays!  In what ever way you choose to celebrate these fading days
of the year 2000, make them special.  I cannot believe that this year is
almost over!  Wow, how time flies!

This is the final issue of The Bright Side for 2000. We began this newsletter
back in early April with a handful of subscribers (OK, I admit, these were
mostly my family and friends, but they have been loyal!).  We had the goal of
1000 subscribers by the end of this year.

We have not yet reached that many people, but I believe there are still 11
days before we turn the clock over to 2001.  :)  We now have 640 subscribers,
for whom I am extremely humbled and grateful!  If each one of you could
forward this to a like-minded friend and invite them to subscribe ... why
then ... we would exceed the goal!  And, if some kind soul sent you this and
you want to subscribe, click here.  Thank you!!!

By the way, check out our updated website (yes, again)!  Go to
http://www.brightsidecoaching.com/
. Lori Anthony, my fabulous webdesigner, is
responsible for the changed concept.  I must tell you also that many of the
technical changes were done by my bright assistant, who happens to be my
creative and talented 15 year old son, Chris.   :)

Thanks to all the callers I had the opportunity to get to know a little more
on our Free Coaching Day.  It was quite a successful and busy day! If you
missed it, keep watching for another one sometime soon in 2001. That was fun!

Many of you have sent some wonderful Holiday stories and I have decided to
share them in this issue.  These stories are far more eloquent than I am and
are treasures you can share with your loved ones.  I hope you will enjoy!

I'd like to acknowledge those of you who have a tough time with the Holiday
season.  For so many reasons, this can be a sensitive time of year. I can
only tell you that time moves on and hearts can heal.  Remember that whatever
determined the past does NOT predict the future. Isn't that the good news?!
 :)

If you are one struggling during this time of year, please know that you are
in my thoughts and prayers. And if you know someone who is hurting, please
reach out to them in kindness. It's been said that there are two ways to be a
shining light -- one is to be the candle and the other is to be the mirror
that reflects that light ...

I wish each one of you peace this Holiday season, in 2001 -- and beyond.
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Best Wishes for a wonderful Kwanzaa!

Invitation to 2001

I am extremely excited about the plans we have for BrightSide Coaching and my
own personal goals for 2001.  Actually, I can't wait!  I will share some of
these in upcoming issues of The Bright Side.

In the meantime, I encourage each of you to begin thinking about what you
want to accomplish in the upcoming year.  Write it down and make a plan.
Then, STICK TO THE PLAN!  You CAN make 2001 the year that you want it to be!
Just imagine what you can accomplish in the next 365 days!

[For more information on this, see issue #16 Real Resolutions on the archive
page at our website.  Click here.]

I am restructuring my time to expand my coaching practice, and therefore,
accepting new clients in 2001. I am ready for 6 new coaching relationships!
If you would like a partner in making your goals a reality, I invite you to
contact me now and we will see if we would be a powerful team. We can begin
working together in January!  Remember coaching can be conducted from
wherever you are as long as you have access to a phone and email.

Those who work with a coach are people who want to move forward with their
lives. We focus on improving your overall quality of the life, relationships,
clarifying and achieving goals, or in some way closing the gap between where
you are and where you want to be. Sound intriguing? Then, contact me and
LET'S GO!  I am ready, are YOU?   :)

Holiday Heart Warmers

An Eye Witness Account from New York City, on a cold
day in December...
(Hopefully, this is the kind of thing that happens frequently,
everywhere.)

A little boy about 10 years old was standing before a shoe
store on Broadway, barefooted, peering through the window,
and shivering with cold.  A lady approached the boy and said,
"My little fellow, why are you looking so earnestly in that window?"
"I was asking God to give me a pair of shoes," was the boys
reply. The lady took him by the hand and went into the store,
and asked the clerk to get half a dozen pairs of socks for the
boy.  She then asked if he could give her a basin of water and
a towel?  He quickly brought them to her. She took the little
fellow to the back part of the store and, removing her gloves,
knelt down, washed his little feet and dried them with a towel.
By this time the clerk had returned with the socks.  Placing a
pair upon the boy's feet, she purchased him a pair of shoes,
and tying up the remaining pairs of socks, gave them to him.
She patted him on the head and said, "No doubt, my little
fellow, you feel more comfortable now?" As she turned to go,
the astonished lad caught her by the hand, and looking up in
her face, with tears in his eyes, answered the question with
these words: "Are you God's Wife?"

The Truth about Santa

On Christmas Eve, a young boy with light in his eyes,
looked deep into Santa's . to Santa's surprise.
and said as he nestled on Santa's broad knee:
"I want your secret, tell it to me."

He leaned up and whispered in Santa's ear,
"How do you do it, year after year?
I want to know how, as you travel about,
giving gifts here and there, you never run out."

"How is it, dear Santa, that in your pack of toys,
you have plenty for all of the world's girls and boys?
Your pack stays so full, for homes large and small,
from nation to nation, reaching them all?"

And Santa smiled kindly and said to the boy:
"Don't ask me hard questions. Don't you want a toy?"
But the child shook his head, and Santa could see
that he needed the answer: "Now listen to me,"

He told the small boy with the light in his eyes,
"My secret will make you both sadder and wise.
The truth is that my sack is magic.a truth I don't hide.
Inside it holds millions of toys for my Christmas Eve ride.

"But although I do visit each girl and each boy
I don't always leave them a gaily wrapped toy.
Some homes are hungry, some homes are sad.
Some homes are desperate, some homes are bad."

"Some homes are broken, and children there grieve.
Those homes I visit, but what should I leave?
My sleigh is filled with the happiest stuff,
But for homes where despair lives, toys aren't enough."

"So I tiptoe in, kiss each girl and boy,
and pray with them that they'll be given the joy
of the spirit of Christmas, the spirit that lives
In the heart of the dear child who gets not, but gives."

"As God hears me and answers my prayer,
when I visit next year, what I will find there?
May I find homes filled with peace, with giving, and love,
and boys and girls gifted with the Light from above."

"It's a very hard task, my smart little brother,
to give toys to some, and give prayers to others.
But the prayers are the best gifts, the best gifts indeed,
for God has a way of meeting each need. "

"That's part of the answer.  The rest, my dear youth,
is that my sack is magic, and that is the truth.
In my sack that I carry on Christmas Eve day
There is more love than a Santa can ever give away."

The sack never empties of love, or of joys
Because inside it are prayers and hopes. not just toys."
The more that I give, the fuller it seems,
Because giving is my way of fulfilling dreams."

"And you know something else? You've got a sack, too.
It's as magic as mine, and it's inside of you.
It never gets empty, it's full from the start.
It's the center of Lights and of love.  It's your heart."

"And if on this Christmas you want to help me,
don't be so concerned with your gifts 'neath the tree.
Open that sack, called your heart, and share
With your joy, your friendship, and with your care."

The light in the small boy's eyes was glowing.
"Thanks for the secret.  I've got to be going."
"Wait, little boy," said Santa "don't go.
Will you share? Will you help? Will you use what you know?"

And just for a moment the small boy stood still,
Touched his heart with his hand and whispered,

"I will."

May You Always Have An Angel by Your Side

May you always have an angel by your side
Watching out for you in all the things you do
Reminding you to keep believing in brighter days
Finding ways for your wishes and dreams to take
you to beautiful places.
Giving you hope that is as certain as the sun
Giving you the strength of serenity as your guide
May you always have love and comfort and courage
And may you always have an angel by your side...

May you always have an angel by your side
Someone there to catch you if you fall
Encouraging your dreams
Inspiring your happiness
Holding your hand and helping you through it all...

In all of our days, our lives are always changing
Tears come along as well as smiles
Along the roads you travel, may the miles be a thousand
times more lovely than lonely
May they give you the kind of Christmas gifts that never,
ever end: someone wonderful to love and a dear friend in
whom you can confide
May you have rainbows after every storm
May you have hopes to keep you warm...

And may you always have an angel by your side.
